A delicious recipe that you will love! ‘Nadan / Naadan’ is the term used for anything that is rustic and country style, as far as Kerala cuisine is concerned.  No coconut milk is used. No tomatoes. And you still get a wonderfully flavorful curry, that is slow cooked to perfection. This curry is best served with hot rice and salad. Enjoy 🙂

    Heat coconut oil, splutter mustard and fenugreek.

    Ginger and garlic is sautéed till softened

    (Lots) of onions are added and sautéed slowly with some salt.

    Patiently , with occasional stirring.

    Till the onions is cooked down Considerably – to a paste like consistency.

    Spice powders are added and cooked till aromatic.

    Chicken is added and tossed till it changes color , uniformly.

    Whole spaces, salt and boiled water is added

    Cook covered. Add curry leaves and coconut bits. Cook again, covered – for 10 more mins.

    How much corriander n chilly powder should i take for half kg chicken ? I’m planning to cook this curry tonight. I want mild spicy loose curry as my husband wants more charu. Plz help me with d quantity

    • Hi. You can take HALF the quantities of all ingredients in the recipe for 1/2 kg chicken – BUT add just a little extra coriander powder, chilli powder and boiled water.. careful not too add to much boiled water as this would result in a dilute taste. Hope this helps. Do let me know how it goes:). This is one of my favorites!
